Frequently Asked Questions

What can be added for personalisation of my product?

Generally we try keep to three materials, stone, glass or metal harder or equal to copper or a combination if desired. The reason being is these materials are generally hard and can be polished in conjunction with the aggregates in the concrete.

What range of styles and batches can I choose from?

We currently have twenty different batches for you to choose from but we can combine any of these and/or new aggregates to create a custom batch to suit your style and setting with the addition of something personal for whatever products you desire.

How long must I wait for my product after the order is placed?

Depending on the type of product and size of project you desire wait times after initial order will range from 6 to 8 weeks in some cases may be less if the product in stock ready to ship. Concrete needs at least 28 days to cure to its desired hardness before any polishing can commence.

Is your material locally sourced, sustainable?

Yes, the majority of our raw materials is sourced from quarries in Mayo, Galway, Roscommon and Leitrim also parts of Munster such as Tipperary,Limerick and Cork. We have sourced materials from all over Ireland and Northern Ireland. We have also included sentimental rocks and gems from various parts of Europe for clients on past projects. Sustainability is a priority for us as we ensure that every job is measured very accurate to eliminate over production and waste.

What is GFRC?

GFRC stands for Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete. There are many benefits for its use in products such as ours. Click here for more info.

How durable is it?

The concrete we use is very tough with a compressive strength well above 50MPa in conjunction with reinforcing makes it very strong therefore structural defects have never been an issue. However miss use and extreme heavy handedness with sharp or heavy objects can cause surface damage. If simple instructions and maintenance care is followed this should never be an issue for you.

How does it compare to other stone products?

What we do is not comparable to most stone products. We craft our work and hand polish every square cm to a standard way beyond the expected threshold. Therefore it is not comparable to a production line product. What you get is personal and unique. Depending on the complexity of your project the price per square meter can vary.

How is it sealed? Will it stain?

Like most hard polished materials concrete is naturally sealed to an extent and with the addition of densifier and sealer to the product it reduces permeability dramatically. If proper care is taken and no solvent or acidic liquids are spilled or left on the surface there will be no issue with staining. See more on densification, sealers and maintenance here.
